Namur Nanosafety Center at the 2nd QNano Integrating Conference

The Namur Nanosafety Center (NNC) attended the 2nd QNano Integrating Conference “Quality in nanosafety assessment – driving best practice and innovation". It took place from February 27th to March 1st 2013 in Prague (Czech Repulic).  This conference is part of the EC FP7 QualityNano project. In parallel, the second annual meeting was also held at the same place on February 25th-27th 2013. A representation of NNC assisted to both events: Stéphane Lucas (director of NARILIS, PMR-LARN), Omar Lozano (PMR-LARN), Christelle Saout (URBC) and Jean-Pascal Piret (URBC).

Prof. Stéphane Lucas elected as a member of the Al-Nanofunc Steering Committee.

Prof S. Lucas has recently been elected at the Steering Committee of the European Al-Nanofunc project.  The project aims at settling and developing an advanced lab for the analysis of novel functional nanomaterials by electronic microscopy.

Prof. Jean-Michel Dogné nommé à la nouvelle commission de pharmacovigilance (PRAC) de l'Agence européenne des médicaments (EMA).

Un rôle et une responsabilité de taille puisque cette commission se charge du suivi de la sécurité des médicaments dès leur mise sur le marché. L'objectif est d'en contrôler l'usage optimal et d'évaluer, lorsque des effets indésirables sérieux sont constatés, si l'utilisation du médicament doit être adaptée ou si celui-ci doit être retiré de la vente en Europe.

Prof. Guy Cornelis - ERC Advanced Investigator Grant

The infection biologist Prof. Guy Cornelis from the Biozentrum, University of Basel, has been awarded the coveted “ERC Advanced Investigator Grant” by the European Research Council for his outstanding scientific work. Cornelis has received this prize of close to 1.5 million euros in recognition of his achievements in investigating bacterial infectious diseases.  The “ERC Advanced Investigator Grant” - a module of the 7th EU Framework Program - is awarded to exceptional leading scientists in Europe and provides them with intensive support over a five year period.

He will use the research grant at the Facultés Universitaires Notre-Dame de la Paix (University of Namur), Belgium, within NARILIS.

Oct.9, 2011: Double first pour l'Université de Namur

L’Université vient d’obtenir le financement de deux projets de recherche dans le cadre de programmes de la Région Wallonne    (« first spin-off » et « first DoCA »). Ces projets concernent les systèmes automatisés d’aide à la décision pour l’un, et les méthodes de détection d’allergènes pour l’autre.
