Namur Medicine & Drug Innovation Center (NAMEDIC)

The Namur Medicine & Drug Innovation Center (NAMEDIC) combines the expertise of the Chemistry and the Pharmacy Departments of the UNamur, with the aim to advance research on effective and innovative drugs. It is dedicated to medicinal chemistry, from hit identification to lead optimization.

Research expertise

Hit Discovery
Discovery of novel hits through virtual and experimental screenings

Computer-aided drug design
During all the process of drug discovery, in silico techniques are applied to improve the efficiency of the "hit-to-lead" optimization process.

Chemical synthesis of novel molecules
Various and up-to-date methodologies are used to synthesize novel compounds.

Pharmaceutical analysis and characterization of new compounds
New chemical entities are structurally caracterized and the purity is assessed. Various physicochemical properties are also evaluated.

Preclinical evaluation using bioassays
The activity toward the target is measured using bioassays: in vitro such as enzymatic assays, ex vivo such as coagulation assays on plasma or in vivo in various animal models.
