Abstract submission

12th Annual BELVIR Symposium | December 4, 2024 - Le Plaza, Brussels

The Board of BELVIR is pleased to invite abstract submissions for the 12th Annual BELVIR Symposium. All topics related to virology are welcome.

Presentation formats

  • Oral communication
    • Short talk: 12' presentation + 3' Q/A (eligible for an award)
    • Pitch talk: 5' presentation, no Q/A
  • Poster NEW

Authors are invited to indicate their preferred presentation format. While the author's presentation preference will be considered, the Board of BELVIR reserves the right to make the final decision on the presentation format after the review process.

Abstract review

Abstracts submitted on time and fulfilling the format requirements will be reviewed by the Board members. After careful evaluation, abstracts will be either accepted or rejected.

From the accepted abstracts, and taking into account the importance of thematic diversity, the highest quality submissions will be selected for oral communication, either as a short talk or a pitch talk. Abstracts submitted for oral presentation will automatically be considered for a poster presentation if not selected for an oral communication.

Authors will be notified about the outcome of their submission by November 4 (accepted/rejected - selected for short talk, pitch talk or poster). Note that notification emails will be sent from abstracts@belvir.be. If you do not receive any notification on the status of your submission by November 4, please check your spam folder.

Electronic abstract book with restricted access

All abstracts selected for oral or poster presentation will be included in the electronic abstract book. This abstract book will NOT be publicly available. Access will be restricted to BELVIR Symposium attendees only. In addition, a password will be required to open the abstract book.

Abstract submission

The deadline for submitting abstracts is September 30. Please fill in the form below and upload your abstract in Microsoft Word format (no PDF !). The length should not exceed one page. The abstract must include the following information:

  • Title
  • Authors names and affiliations
  • Abstract text

Use single line spacing, Calibri, font size 11 pt, title in bold and centered, presenting author underlined, affiliations in italic, abstract text justified.
