Expertise and research interests
Patrick Honoré, graduated from the Louvain Medical School as MD (1988), Specialist in Internal Medicine (1993), Intensive Care Specialist (1994) and Nephrologist (1995). In 2012, he earned a PhD in Medical Sciences from the VUB with a thesis titled: “Continuous Blood Purification as an Adjunctive Treatment in Severe Inflammatory Diseases including Sepsis” (read abstract). Until December 2017, Patrick Honoré was Head of Clinics in the Intensive Care department at the UZ Brussels university hospital, and Professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the VUB. In January 2018, he joined the CHU Brugmann, becoming Director of the Intensive Care department in January 2022 and Professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the ULB in January 2020. Since November 2022, Patrick Honoré is Professor and Head of the Intensive Care department at the CHU UCL Namur, and Professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the UCLouvain.
His current research interests include: sepsis, acute kidney injury and continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT).
