NARILIS grants for participating in scientific conferences

Given the current travel restrictions, NARILIS grants are also available for participating in virtual conferences!


The aim of this funding is to offer support to NARILIS researchers for their participation in scientific conferences. The grant recipients must present a poster or an oral communication. Applications can be submitted for both types of attendance: in-person and virtual participation.

Funding limits and eligible costs

A maximum of two grants per promoter and per year can be awarded, for two researchers of his/her group.

Eligibility criteria

  • The applicant must be a member of NARILIS, either a PhD student/postdoc researcher of the UNamur, or a clinician-researchers of the CHU UCL Namur
  • The applicant must have an abstract accepted for poster/oral presentation by the organizers of the conference. It is however possible to apply prior having received the notification of acceptance.
  • Only the presenting author (first author) is eligible for the grant.
  • The proposed communication must present research carried out in the framework of NARILIS. The grant recipient is expected to highlight his/her affiliation to NARILIS on all communication materials (abstract, poster, slides…).
  • The applicant must still be under contract at the time of the conference (i.e. PhD or postdoctoral fellowship).
  • The applicant should have looked for alternative funding options and should submit other funding requests in parallel (i.e. FNRS mobility instruments, conference grants, travel awards…).

Application procedure

This call remains permanently open. Applications may be submitted any time, but at least 6 weeks before the conference start date.  

All applications must be submitted using the ONLINE FORM.

Awarding of the grant

The applicant will be notified by email of NARILIS funding decision, within a time-limit of 3 weeks. 

The grant will be awarded on the condition that:

  • the grant recipient has sent to NARILIS the proof of acceptance of the abstract (notification email from the conference organizer, conference proceeding / abstract book...)
  • the grant recipient has sent to NARILIS the original invoices (i.e. airline/travel agency invoice, registration invoice...) or payment receipts (i.e. online payment of registration, online purchase of flight tickets…).

Expenses incurred by the participant him/herself will be reimbursed by completing the UNamur expense report.

If the amount of the expenses exceeds the amount of the grant, the remaining amount will be covered by another funding source (i.e. CPO of the lab...).
