Aurélien Dauphin works in the Cell and Tissue Imaging Facility. He is in charge of different projects in microscopy and Image analysis. He is involved in nanoscopy (Super Resolution microscopy) and live imaging on single cells and model organisms used in Developmental Biology.

His seminar is entitled:

Quantification Is a Round Trip Between Image Analysis and the Bench: How Sample Preparation and Acquisition Shape Your Image Data, and How Your Research Question Shapes the Acquisition Strategy

Quantitative image analysis is often seen as the final step of an imaging experiment, yet the reliability of the numbers is largely decided much earlier. How a sample is prepared, how fields of view and replicates are chosen, and how images are acquired all determine what can be measured and how accurately. This seminar uses concrete examples to show how choices in labeling, sampling and microscope settings propagate into segmentation, intensity measurements and statistics, and why no algorithm can fully rescue poorly planned data. It also shows how the analysis question should, in turn, guide the acquisition strategy. It ends with open questions for discussion about your own practice.
