Boosting scientific writing skills through Scriptoria’s Journal Article Writing Workshop
From 20 to 22 May 2026, NARILIS hosted Dr. Emily Caseley, a research consultant and trainer at Scriptoria in the UK, to lead an intensive workshop aimed at strengthening the scientific writing skills of our early-career researchers.
Over two and a half days, Emily provided guidance on preparing and publishing scientific manuscripts to 24 NARILIS researchers, including 7 clinician-researchers from CHU UCL Namur and 17 PhD students from UNamur. She shared valuable insights into planning, structuring and writing impactful journal articles, illustrated with examples from both clinical and basic life sciences research. The programme combined theoretical sessions with hands-on exercises and group discussions, giving participants the opportunity to put new concepts directly into practice.
Participants left the workshop equipped with practical tools to improve the quality of their scientific manuscripts and increase their chances of publication.

Participants from CHU UCL Namur: Dr. Gabriel Barthélemy, Dr. Laure Boutsen, Dr. Richard Coulie, Dr. Xavier Gilis, Dr. Jean-Gualbert Nève, Dr. Pierre-Yves Sansen and Dr. Charlotte Schlesser
