Catherine Linard, health geographer, nominated at "Les Trophées Matière Grise"

Professor at the department of Geography of the UNamur and member of the NARILIS institute, Catherine Linard has developed an expertise in spatial epidemiology and geography of health. Her research aims at studying the impact of key factors, such as environmental changes and human influence, on the emergence and transmission of infectious diseases, in particular vector-borne diseases and zoonoses.

During the current health crisis, Catherine actively contributed to several TV panel discussions around Covid-19 pandemic. The Belgian TV program Matière Grise (RTBF) wants to recognize the outstanding efforts of researchers to communicate complex scientific issues to a wide public. Catherine is one of the 21 nominees deserving recognition for the quality of their public interventions! Among these, three prominent personalities will be awarded a special Prize for Science Popularization. The aim of this prize is to encourage the sharing of knowledge and passion for research, and to play an important role in attracting young people to the field of science.
