Dr. Benjamin Ledoux wins Best Poster award at the Bangalore Microscopy Course 2024
After completing his PhD under the co-supervision by Prof. Pierre Morsomme (UCLouvain) and Prof. Henri-François Renard (UNamur), Benjamin Ledoux joined the UNamur Fluorescence microscopy platform in 2023 as a research logistician. Alongside Prof. Henri-François Renard and Prof. Alison Forrester, he now assists NARILIS researchers in utilizing advanced bioimaging tools available within the Morph-Im platform.
From September 22 to 29, Benjamin Ledoux had the privilege to participate in the Bangalore Microscopy Course 2024, an intensive training program led by global experts in biological microscopy. The course offered theoretical and hands-on training in state-of-the-art optical microscopy techniques, ranging from basic microscopy to super-resolution imaging. It also included research seminars showcasing the application of light microscopy to address complex biological questions.
During the workshop, Benjamin presented a poster entitled “Plasma membrane nanodeformations promote actin polymerization through CIP4/CDC42 recruitment and regulate type II IFN signaling”, highlighting the key findings from his doctoral research conducted as part of a UCLouvain-UNamur collaboration. Published in 2023 (Ledoux et al., 2023), this research uncovers a mechanotransduction pathway induced by nanoscale membrane deformations and demonstrate how BAR proteins mediate specific downstream cellular responses depending on the plasma membrane geometry. This presentation earned Benjamin the Best Poster Award at Bangalore Microscopy Course 2024, a well-deserved recognition of his remarkable achievements. Congratulations Benjamin!
