NARILIS Annual Meeting 2024: Celebrating a year of scientific achievements
Held on December 17th, the NARILIS Annual Meeting brought together our scientific community to celebrate the achievements of our researchers over the past year. The event showcased the diversity of research areas and disciplines within NARILIS with 12 oral communications and 35 poster presentations. During the poster session, 8-minute speed-datings were organized, encouraging exchange of ideas and strengthening connections among participants.
We thank all our researchers who presented their ongoing projects, making this event such a rich moment of sharing!
The event recognized excellent contributions with several awards:
Two Best Oral Communications
- Jean-Yves Matroule and PhD students Hala Kasmo and Marine Ote (UNamur, URBM), for their engaging talk, “Good and evil, the dual face of copper,” which delved into bacterial molecular responses to copper stress.
- Margaux Mignolet, PhD student from Prof. Charles Nicaise’s group (UNamur, URPhyM), for her presentation My thesis in 5 minutes entitled “Passive transfer of IgG from patients with long-COVID neurological symptoms induces tactile allodynia and thermal hyperalgesia in mice.”
Four Best Posters
- Valentin Job, PhD student from Prof. Stéphane Lucas’ group (UNamur, LARN), for “Antibacterial and antiviral properties of Ag/Cu-doped hydrogenated amorphous carbon coatings produced by hybrid PVD/PECVD process”
- Benjamin Hanotieau, PhD student from Prof. Nathalie Kirschvink’s group (UNamur, URPhyM), for “The endothelial glycocalyx, a mechanosensor of shear stress: functional investigation using enzymatic degradation”
- Carlo Yague-Sanz, postdoctoral researcher (UNamur, URPhyM), for “Sequential processing of co-hosted snoRNAs enforced by RNAse III cleavage signals spread across splice junctions”
- Céline Decouvreur, MD and PhD student under the mentorship of Prof. Sebahat Ocak (CHU UCL Namur, Pneumology), for “Development of a mouse model to study in vivo inhibition of Focal Adhesion Kinase in small cell lung cancer”.
Thank you once again to everyone who contributed to the success of this meeting and who actively participate in fostering the collaborative spirit of NARILIS!
