NARILIS research group "Omnibus Animalibus Studia Sanitatis (OASIS)" on the radio

On Saturday December 12, 2020, Dr. Fanny Hontoir was invited by journalist Fabienne Vande Meerssche at the radio program "Les Eclaireurs" (RTBF, La Première) to talk about her research at OASIS! Veterinary doctor and FNRS postdoctoral researcher at the UNamur, Fanny Hontoir is one of the team's pillars of OASIS, an interdisciplinary research group created by Prof. Jean-Michel Vandeweerd.

Fanny's doctoral research focused on osteoarthritis with the goal to better understand the early pathological processes and to better detect early structural and compositional changes that are associated to the disease. She therefore compared magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography techniques for detecting cartilage defects in a common animal model used for osteoarthritis research, the ovine stifle (PhD thesis summary).

She is now pursuing her research to explore the molecular changes associated to ageing and osteoarthritis. Her postdoctoral project, called "OviSno", will study the expression of small nucleolar RNAs (snoRNAs), non-coding molecules involved in oxidative stress regulation. This project is conducted in collaboration with the University of Liverpool (Prof. Peter Clegg) and the University of Maastricht (Prof. Tim Welting).
