NARILIS researcher Vanessa Colombaro wins award for Best Oral Presentation at the ERCSG meeting 2016

Vanessa Colombaro performed her PhD work at the Molecular Physiology Research Unit of UNamur, under the mentorship of Prof. Nathalie Caron. Two months ago, she successfully defended her doctoral thesis regarding the involvement of hyaluronan in the pathophysiology of renal ischemia-reperfusion injury.

During the 28th annual meeting of the European Renal Cell Study Group (ERCSG) which was held in April 2016 in Paris, Vanessa had the opportunity to present her work during the session dedicated to Acute Kidney Injury. This renowned conference brings together researchers from all over Europe to discuss the cellular, molecular and physiological aspects of renal cell biology with emphasis on models of the normal and the diseased kidney. With her talk entitled “Lack of hyaluronidases exacerbates renal post-ischemic injury, inflammation and fibrosis due to an accumulation of low molecular weight hyaluronan”, Vanessa won the prize for the Best Oral Presentation!
