NARILIS supports the 5th edition of the “Women and Girls in Science” at the University of Namur
On February 13, 2025, the UNamur organized the 5th edition of its annual Women and Girls in Science (WGiS) event (https://wgis.unamur.be/), which aims at promoting the access of women and girls to science and technology as well as their full and fair participation. This initiative highlights the crucial role of women in the scientific community and serves as a great opportunity to inspire the next generation of female scientists. As every year, NARILIS was proud to support this event and encouraged its researchers to participate.
NARILIS would like to highlight the commitment of four of its researchers in the organizing committee: Hala Kasmo, Petra Manja, Charlotte Rossi, and Prof. Anne-Catherine Heuskin. Alongside colleagues from other research institutes, they contributed to shaping a rich program that showcased the impactful contributions of women across various scientific disciplines.
We also thank all NARILIS women who actively participated to this inspiring day through posters and flash talks: Alexandra Decloux, Prof. Charlotte Beaudart, Marlies Dauwen, Keïla Opele-Navenge, Dr. Médéa Locquet, Marine Ote, Emma Boretti, Emma Calluy, Lucie Caramelle, Lucie Raskin, Sophie Van Heden, Aishwarya Saxena and Eloïse Rapport.
Congratulations to three NARILIS PhD students whose presentations were recognized with awards presented by the Fonds Adrien Bauchau:
🏆 Marlies Dauwen, PhD student in Prof. Fanny Hontoir’s research group, received the Jury Award for her flash talk “Optimising synovial fluid sample preparation for mass spectrometry proteomic biomarker discovery for early arthritis.”
🏆 Keïla Opele-Navenge, PhD student in Prof. Anne-Catherine Heuskin’s research group, won the Audience Award for her flash talk “Targeting ferroptosis resistance to sensitize cancer cells to radiotherapy/protontherapy”.
🏆 Aishwarya Saxena, PhD student within Prof. Régis Hallez’s research group, received the Audience Award for her poster “The second messenger (p)ppGpp regulates cell cycle progression in Caulobacter crescentus by reprogramming transcription”.
