The Namur Research Institute for Life Sciences (NARILIS) welcomes new Principal Investigator Gipsi Lima Mendez

Gipsi Lima Mendez holds a PhD in Bioinformatics from the ULB. After several postdoc positions at ULB, VUB and KU Leuven, she moved to UCLouvain in 2019 as a computational biologist at the Louvain Institute of Biomolecular Science and Technology (LIBST). Early September 2021, Gipsi has taken up an Assistant Professor position at the Department of Biology of the UNamur and becomes a Principal Investigator at NARILIS. She will participate in the teaching activities of the Master in Molecular Microbiology (MMM) and further develop her research programs within the Research Unit in Biology of Microorganisms (URBM). Her group aims at developing an integrative computational framework combining multi-omics and network analyses to investigate the complex interactions between mobile genetic elements (MGEs) and their microbial hosts at ecological and molecular levels in the microbiome of different environments.
