Originality in the spotlight of NARILIS Research Day 2018!

The 2018 edition of the NARILIS Research Day was held on March 23 and gathered more than 100 NARILIS researchers at the Citadelle of Namur. During this unique day, the originality of NARILIS research projects was put in the spotlight!

The NARILS Research Day also included a very lively poster session, where 27 posters were exposed and presented by PhD students, master students and research students.

6 researchers were honored with special awards:

Emeline Puissant, PhD student at the Molecular Physiology Research Unit (Prof. Michel Jadot) received the Best Oral Communication award - within the category most educational presentation - for her talk entitled "Maladie lysosomale MPS de type IX: un impact sur le métabolisme de l'os?".

The Best Oral Communication award - within the category most innovative topic - was attributed to two presentations: (1) "Amoebae and bacteria: when predator-prey interactions reverse" presented by Dr. Charles Van der Henst, post-doc researcher at the Research Unit in Biology of Microorganisms (Prof. Xavier De Bolle) and the Research Unit in Environmental and Evolutionary Biology (Prof. Karine Van Doninck) and (2) "Repousser les limites du vivant : Les rotifères bdelloides à l’assaut de l’espace?" co-presented by Dr. Cécile Bopp, post-doc researcher at the Laboratory of Analysis by Nuclear Reaction (Prof. Stéphane Lucas) and Boris Hespeels, PhD student at the Research Unit in Environmental and Evolutionary Biology (Prof. Karine Van Doninck).

Carlo Yague-Sanz, PhD student at the Molecular Physiology Research Unit (Prof. Damien Hermand) won the Best Oral Communication award - within the category most original presentation - with his talk entitled "Découverte, par « mésaventure », d'une interaction génétique entre les ARN polymerases II et III".

Dr. Eléonore Longton, radiation oncologist at the Radiotherapy Department of the CHU UCL Namur (Dr. Jean-François Daisne) and PhD student at the Laboratory of Cellular Biology of the UNamur (Prof. Carine Michiels), was awarded the Best Poster prize for her communication entitled "Appropriate sequence for afatinib and cisplatin combination improves anticancer activity in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma".
