Publication on equine ophthalmology, co-authored by Prof. J.-M. Vandeweerd, awarded the “Prix Pierre-Just Cadiot”

The “Prix Pierre-Just Cadiot” is awarded by the Veterinary Academy of France in recognition of an outstanding publication relating to veterinary practice or therapeutics. Professor of pathology at the National veterinary school of Alfort in France, Pierre-Just Cadiot (1858-1934) was renowned for his veterinary medicine books on domestic animals and surgical procedures, which were used as reference works by practitioners for almost 50 years.

End October 2020, the prize committee of the Veterinary Academy of France decided to honour the work entitled "Guide Pratique d’Ophtalmologie équine", published by Med'Com in 2019, because of its quality, its wide range of documentation, its rich iconography and its unique contribution to equine ophthalmology. This work is the fruit of a collaboration between Dr. Thomas Launois (Clinique vétérinaire de Dammarie-les-lys), Dr. Anne-Marie Desbrosse (Clinique Equine Desbrosse), Prof. Jean-Michel Vandeweerd (professor of veterinary anatomy at UNamur) and Dr. Brian Gilger (professor of veterinary ophthalmology at NC State University, USA).
