Three NARILIS PhD students nominated to represent the UNamur at the Belgian interuniversity final of "Ma thèse en 180 secondes"

On March 25, 2022, ten PhD students participated to the first selection round of "Ma thèse en 180 secondes" at the UNamur. Jia-Wei Chen, Joëlle Giroud and Louise Gerard are the three candidates selected for the next stage of the competition. All three are PhD students at NARILIS!

  • Jia-Wei Chen convinced the jury with her pitch entitled “Onco-Lanta”. Jia-Wei is a PhD fellow within the team of Prof. Carine Michiels. Her doctoral research aims at determining the genes involved in the resistance of glioblastomas to anticancer therapies.
  • Joëlle Giroud received the second prize of the jury with her talk “Vieillir peut-il attendre?”. Joëlle is enrolled in a joint PhD at UNamur (Dr. Florence Chainiaux) and  Institut Pasteur de Lille (Dr. Olivier Pluquet). Her work aims at discovering new pathways/targets with senolityc/senomorphic properties that would limit senescence/ageing.
  • Louise Gerard was selected by the audience with her talk “Qui a laisse la porte ouverte?”. Louise works as a PhD student within the team of Prof. Jean-Pierre Gillet, where she studies the role of ABCB9 in ovarian cancer progression and its dimerization profile.

Jia-Wei, Joëlle and Louise will represent the UNamur at the Belgian interuniversity final, which will take place on June 10 at the "Delta" in Namur. We wish them all three great success!
