Welcome to Prof. Philippe Bossaert, new Principal Investigator at NARILIS!

We are pleased to welcome Prof. Philippe Bossaert at NARILIS as a new Principal Investigator!

Philippe Bossaert obtained his Master degree of Veterinary medicine from Ghent University in 2005. Upon graduation, he pursued his education with a PhD thesis at the Department of Reproduction, Obstetrics and Herd Health of UGhent, where he studied the interaction of dairy cow metabolism and fertility. This is where his passion began for combining research, clinical practice and teaching. After his PhD thesis defense, he worked for many years as a farm animal veterinarian and meanwhile as a lecturer at the University of Antwerp. In 2018, he joined the University of Liège as a Professor in Ruminant Theriogenology.

Since November 2021, Philippe Bossaert has taken up a Professor position at the University Namur to teach Veterinary Physiology to veterinary bachelor students. Along with his teaching activities, he will also continue his research career. As a new member of the Integrated Veterinary Research Unit (URVI) and NARILIS, Philippe Bossaert’s research interests focus mainly on the consequences of intra-uterine growth on performances during life ex utero in sheep, as a model for veterinary and human medicine.
