Expertise and research interests
Dr. Charlotte Beaudart is full-time lecturer of Clinical Research at the Department of biomedical sciences of UNamur.
Her academic achievements include a Master's degree (2012) and a PhD (2016) in Public Health Sciences, Epidemiology, and Health Economics from the University of Liège, Belgium. Over the past 11 years, her primary focus has revolved around the intricate aspects of aging, delving into areas such as sarcopenia, frailty, and intrinsic capacities.
One of her groundbreaking endeavors is the creation of the SarcoPhAge cohort—involving over 530 participants aged over 60 from Liège (Beaudart et al., 2015). This prospective cohort study has spanned nearly a decade, providing invaluable insights into the dynamics of aging. Additionally, Dr. Beaudart is renowned for developing the SarQoL, the world's first quality of life questionnaire tailored specifically for sarcopenia (Beaudart et al., 2017; Beaudart et al., 2023).
Beyond those research acumen, Dr. Beaudart has cultivated expertise in various methodological domains. She is a recognized expert in the realm of meta-synthesis, encompassing systematic reviews, network meta-analysis, individual participant data meta-analysis, and more. Her mastery extends to Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs), where she focuses on the development, validation, and statistical analysis of psychometric properties.
Furthermore, Dr. Beaudart's academic journey includes a 3-year postdoctoral stay at the Department of Health Services Research at Maastricht University. This experience has equipped her with expertise in patient preference studies and cost-effectiveness analyses.
With a publication record of over 150 scientific publications, including 35 as first author, and an h-index of 40, Dr. Charlotte Beaudart has solidified her stature in both her specialized research domain and methodological spheres.
Dr. Beaudart is also a member of the WHO Collaborating Center for Epidemiology of Musculoskeletal Health and Aging, housed within the Division of Public Health, Epidemiology, and Health Economics at the University of Liège, Belgium. Furthermore, she serves as a board member of the European Society for Clinical and Economic Aspects of Osteoporosis, Osteoarthritis, and Musculoskeletal Disease (ESCEO).
On December 13, 2023, Dr. Beaudart received a Scientific Prize from the AstraZeneca Foundation in the category "Healthy Aging from Physiological to Psychological and Ethical Aspects“.
